Privacy policy

This page explains which personal data is processed when you sign up for and take part in this webinar, run with the Stagelight webinar software, and what your rights are.

What we process, and why

Signing up

Your name and email address, to send you your personal link and give you access to the classes. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give on the signup form. Your link is personal; if it is opened on a second device, the first one is disconnected.

Taking part

When you watch a class, we record which class you joined and when you were last connected, so the host can see attendance. Your camera and microphone are never used: you only receive the host's video and sound. Legal basis: providing the webinar you signed up for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Chat

Messages you write in the chat are stored and shown to everyone in that class with your first name. The host can hide messages.

Calendar

If you add the class dates to your calendar, your calendar app regularly fetches them through your personal link.

Recordings

Classes may be recorded and published on YouTube as unlisted videos (visible only to people with the link). Recordings show the host and the documents shown in class, not participants or the chat, unless you speak as a guest (see below).

Speaking as a guest

The host can invite you to speak during a class. You choose what to share: your camera picture, your voice, or both. Only if you accept, what you chose is sent through Cloudflare to everyone in the class and to the host, and are part of the class recording if there is one. Nothing is sent before you accept, and you can leave the stage at any time. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by accepting the invitation.

Asking to become a host

If you send the "Become a host" form on the start page, we receive your name, email address and what you wrote, by email and as a copy on our server, so we can answer you and set you up. Legal basis: your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and your consent on the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Technical data

As with any website, your IP address and browser details reach the servers involved; this is needed to deliver the pages and the video stream. This site uses no cookies and no advertising. Your browser remembers your day/night setting locally; it is not sent to us.

Visit statistics (only with your consent)

On the start page, the signup pages and this page we ask whether we may count visits. Only if you allow it, our own statistics tool (PulseKit, on our server pulsekit.chriskatzer.com) records which of these pages you open, where you came from, your device type, screen and browser, how far you scroll, how long you stay and where you click. It never records what you type. To recognise repeat visits, a random number is kept in your browser. Your class page, with your personal link, is never counted. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25 TDDDG). You can change your choice here at any time; saying no stops the counting at once and deletes the random number.

Service providers

All providers process data on our behalf and only for these purposes.

How long data is kept

Your name, email address, attendance and chat messages are kept as long as you are signed up. If you ask us to delete them, or withdraw your consent, we delete them; your link then stops working.

"Become a host" requests are deleted from our server after six months at the latest, or earlier if you ask.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Write to the contact address above. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
